Defense Logistics Agency Energy Americas Commander Army Col. Bill Keyes, addressed the Academy Association about “We are DLA” and “We are DLA Energy” at their breakfast meeting in Houston May 11.
While many in the audience were familiar with DLA, the intent of the presentation was to impart a greater understanding and appreciation of DLA's contribution to national security, Keyes said.
"DLA is a major player in the Department of Defense and one of the largest supply chain managers in the world. Conversely, DLA Energy is one of the largest participants in the energy field,” Keyes said. “Telling our good news story is part of Americas’ community outreach.”
The Academy Association is a professional group of military officers from all services. The group is comprised of active, retired and veteran servicemembers. All branches of service are represented with participation ranging from Vietnam veterans from the early 1960s to Air Force Academy graduates from the Class of 2011. A majority of the association graduated from one of the service academies: Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard or Merchant Marine. The association's common denominator is an interest in national defense and the brotherhood of military service.
